Finding joy day one. The beans or the background. Jesus gives a beautiful sermon up on a mountainside at the beginning of his ministry. In this sermon he addresses daily life and how nothing about life is separate from God. Well look at what Jesus has to say about worry in today's verse. The verse Matthew chapter 6 verses 28 through 30. And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow? They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, you of little faith? The steam. What does this mean to me and how can I apply it to my life today? Each day we have to choose how we want to start and carry on throughout the day. Studies have shown that focusing on negative things first thing in the morning can actually cause you to have a bad day. While on the other hand choosing to focus on positive things first thing in the morning can cause you to have a good day. Our thoughts affect our moods and we all know that our moods affect just about every aspect of our day. So first things first, make some space in your mind for joy by removing the negative. List out those pesky thoughts that are causing you to worry, to stress, to be angry or sad. Write those out on paper and once they're there, feel free to tear this paper up. It is so therapeutic. Now imagine that space in your mind that they were occupying, it's now empty. So quickly before those pesky negative thoughts return, I want you to fill that available space in your mind with God's truth. Today we're going to do that by simply looking out the window. List at least three things from nature that bring you joy today. Think about how God so tenderly cares for the beauty all around us. Without stress, worry or work, the things of nature grow, flourish and even rest. So how much more will your Father in Heaven provide, take care of and tend to you? Meditate on that truth today. As you drive or walk around, focus on the joy that is all around you.
