Ashes to Beauty Day 7 The Beings, or the Background. In Jesus' time, blood was considered to be unclean. This meant that anyone who was bleeding was considered to be unclean and needed to stay away from other people so that they wouldn't accidentally come in contact with them, thus making them unclean as well. The verse Mark chapter 5 verses 27 through 34. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak because she thought, if I just touch his clothes, I will be healed. Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt it in her body that she was freed from her suffering. At once, Jesus realized that power had come out of him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, who touched my clothes? You see all the people crowding against you? His disciples answered, and yet you ask who touched me? But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet, trembling with fear, and told him the truth. He said to her, Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering. Bistine, what does this mean to me and how can I apply it to my life today? Children can be mirrors sometimes. They reflect things we've said, things we've done, and they showcase what we look or sound like. Once, when JB was playing at the top of the stairs near my office, I stopped what I was working on and asked, whatcha doing bud? And his response was simply, sorry mommy, I'm really busy working right now, wait just a second for me, k? Stunned, I stopped and realized that he was repeating a phrase he had heard from me more than a time or two. I share this embarrassing story about myself to highlight that I am human, but God is not. While I, a human parent, might not always be able to multitask, this story shares that Jesus always has time for you. He is never too busy. While crowds of people were reaching out in need of Jesus' help and attention, he stops and addresses this woman who was cast out of society. For years, this woman had suffered alone because no one could come near her. Desperate for help, but not wanting to bring Jesus any harm, she simply touches the bottom of his clothes. In faith, she reaches out so that he could heal her. She's absolutely right, and feeling this healing power leave his body, Jesus stops suddenly to address whomever it was. Now, remember, the healing had been done. He had hundreds of other people to attend to, yet he stops. He addresses this daughter of his, whom he loves. He wants to be sure that she understands that she is loved and precious in his eyes. The same truth applies to you and me today. Jesus loves us, and while we may have to delegate our time, dividing it up between multiple people and chores, Jesus' love and time for us is unending. It is unfathomable to think that he is always with you no matter what. Let today's verse be a reminder that you are his, and that he is with you always, always working on your behalf.
